If you want to create a website, you need two things - a domain name and a web hosting plan for it. The domain registration is the actual web address that you enter in a web browser to access a website, while the hosting space is where your website files will be. These are 2 very closely related, yet independent services, even though many people believe that registering the domain name is enough. Much like the disk space and the monthly traffic features that a given web hosting plan features, there are a certain number of registered domain names which you can add as hosted which means that you can have the web content for them in some account even if the domains are in fact registered through a different provider. In technical terms, it doesn't matter if a domain is registered and hosted using the same company or is registered with one company and directed to a different one - in either case your sites will function in exactly the same way.
